About Our Classes

Perfume Blending Experience

Start with an optional glass of wine (or a Mimosa!), then explore the art and history of perfumery. Learn blending techniques, discover fragrance families, and create your custom perfume to take home. A unique, hands-on experience perfect for date nights, friend outings, or solo adventures in the Bay Area!

 

    • Public Workshops: Max 16  | $60+ 
    • Private Experiences: Standard 1-8 people $60+, Elevated 1-25, (15+ off site) $70+ per person, Master Blender 1-25 | $80+

Candle Experience

Craft your own massage oil candle using our signature skin-loving base and custom fragrance blend. Learn wicking, choose your vessel, proper fragrance load, and how to blend your own scent while enjoying your hands-on experience. Be sure to plan ahead for shopping or dining AFTER the class, as it takes approx 45 minutes for your candle to set enough to be moved.

    • Private Experiences: 4-25 participants on site, up to 75 off site | $65+ per person

NEW Aromatherapy Experience

Join us for a hands-on aromatherapy journey blending education with creativity! Explore the history and benefits of essential oils, enjoy an optional glass of wine from Vintage Berkeley, then dive into two interactive stations: craft a custom essential oil blend and create your own aromatherapy shower or mist.

KIDS CLASSES:

Looking for fun, screen-free things to do with your kids this summer? At Scents by the Bay in Berkeley, we offer creative, hands-on workshops for children ages 6–14. From custom candle-making and DIY perfumes to aromatherapy bracelet crafting, our kid-friendly classes are the perfect way to spark imagination, learn something new, and enjoy meaningful time together. All materials are provided, and every child leaves with a custom creation they made themselves!

PRIVATE APPOINTMENTS

Looking to create your own perfume or essential oil blend? Come book a private appointment with any of our staff, or specifically the guidance of our Owner & Master Blender, Tarah, who has over 20 years of experience. Available for 1-9 people, these unique experiences include the history of perfumes, information about perfume families, blending techniques and guidance in creating your own custom blend.

$55+ per person, experience takes 45 minutes to 1.5 hours
Private appointments may be purchased on our website (paid in full), or over the phone (50% deposit, balance due at appointment), and need to be scheduled in advance.

SCENT MATCHING

Do you have an old scent, or your own own custom blend crafted from another company that you can’t find anymore? You can bring (or ship!) in a sample of the fragrance, and our Owner will attempt to match it for you! This service can take up to 2 weeks, (depends on season), and you’ll receive 4 samples to choose from. Then 10% off the any size for your final creation.

$45 per scent to match (+ shipping if you’re not local)
Note, scents are unique and often difficult. We will do our best, and haven’t had one we have “missed” yet, but please note, there are no guarantees.
